- Daunting looks
- Impressive Off-Road Credentials and handling given its size
- Engine and gearbox combo makes for a delightful highway cruiser
Cons
- Steering still could be slightly improved

So the 2020 Ford Endeavour is affordable, capable and with Ford's warranty schemes easy on the pocket to maintain. The srop in power figures don't really bother. If anything, the new Endeavour feels livelier with this new 2.0-litre engine and the new gearbox is a touch of brilliance. So yes! The Ford Endeavour still remains all the SUV you need!
The new Ford Endeavour 2.0 has the same exterior design as the previous models, but it now has an all-new 2.0-litre BS6 diesel engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission, setting it distinct from competitors in its market. The Ford Endeavour epitomizes luxury thanks to Ford's exceptional craftsmanship, which offers sufficient power and comfort.
How’s the design?
On the surface, it's big, hefty, and extremely rugged, yet from the inside, it is plush, cosy, and stunningly comforting. With an aesthetic unmatched by rivals, it features one of the best balances of comfort and power. It is naturally challenging to make a large, heavy, body-on-ladder-frame SUV designed to fight in World War II comply with BS6 emission standards. And for precisely that reason, Ford installed a brand-new, cleaner, greener, and far more robust engine beneath the hood of the Endeavour. The head and tail lights seem a bit small for the large body but have great brightness owing to their LEDs. The high ground cleanses make the car taller and gives a feel of an adventure machine. Moreover, comes in sophisticated natural/ bold 6 looks but lacks quirky colours.
How does it perform?
Compared to the 2.0 variant, the Endeavour 3.2's engine is far more powerful and torque enriched. In the Endeavour, the 3.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine produces 197 bhp and 470 nm of torque. Additionally, the 2.0-litre engine's power output at high speeds is generally fairly decent, so even though the Endeavour is a big vehicle, it doesn't feel underpowered and clocks an impressive 0-100 sprint in 12.75sec. The engine incorporates offset pistons, which reduce side loads, a variable geometry turbo to improve low engine speed performance, and a belt-in-oil system, which is fairly unusual, to further reduce friction making for an extremely comfortable riding experience.
How’s the mileage?
The mileage of the Ford Endeavour is a bit low compared to other SUVs in the segment but has one of the best engines and the is still economical owing to its diesel variant. The manual Transmission offers the highest mileage but the car is more emphasized Automatic transmission as it’s the way forward to the future.

3.2L Titanium Plus 4x4 AT BS IV | Automatic / Diesel | 12.6 KM/L |
2.0l Titanium Plus 4x2 AT | Automatic / Diesel | 13.9 KM/L |
2.0l Titanium Plus 4x4 AT | Automatic / Diesel | 12.4 KM/L |
2.0l Sport 4x4 AT | Automatic / Diesel | 12.4 KM/L |
How’s the driving experience?
The Ford Endeavour provides the best pickup, easy turning, quiet engine noise, and outstanding driving with ideal comfort. Additionally, compared to other companies, the cost of service and maintenance is substantially higher. Aside from having 10 gears, the automatic transmission from Ford boasts many special characteristics. It is a typical automatic with actual gears, but thanks to real-time adaptive algorithms, it can skip gears when you need it to. This helps to save time while also enabling the designers to maximize the motor's torque. One can also lock out gears with Progressive Range Selection so the car won't shift up when it isn't necessary, like when you're off-road.
How is its off-road capability?
The high ground clearance of 225 mm and the Independent Coil Spring with Anti-roll Bar in the front and Coil Spring, Watts Linkage Type with Anti-roll Bar rear suspension make all roads feel smooth and the high torque makes it a great vehicle for city use as well as long drives of the road. It is aided by 4X4 wheel drive making it perfect for hills and windy roads aided by alloy wheels- tubeless tires.
What’s the interior like?
Luxury exudes from all the interior design elements the dual tone beige and black interiors look classy with a beautifully clean dashboard that is easily understandable. But in comparison to other SUVs, the Endeavour is much more compact inside and out. Some may argue it gives less space but the brilliance of this design is what makes the car zippy on its wheels and offers an excellent driving experience. Moreover, the AT shift stick is comfortable to use along with the responsive tactile buttons.
Tech and infotainment
The simplest giveaway is the new twin-LED headlights. Very different from the older lights, these have clearly identified individual parts, the set looks more modern, and when you need to use them at night, they also illuminate the road much better. The artificial vent that was installed vertically on the bumper is the main other change; apart from that, the car and the facelift are identical.
Safety Equipment
Ford is known for their safety installations and renowned for its safety standards in cars. The Endeavour has a safety rating of 5 out of 5 Stars in the SUV segment making it the best in its class. The car includes Curtain Airbags, Child Safety Lock, Electrochromic IRVM, Driver Knee Airbags, along with ABS and a central locking system and has the most robust SUV body on Indian roads for sure.
Which variant to buy?
The car comes in 4X2 and 4X4 wheel drive versions. For an economical option, the 4X2- 2.2L Titanium MT BS IV is the best option for you in your plan to mostly drive within proper roadways in urban locations but the 3.2L Titanium Plus 4x4 AT BS IV is the best option for you if you are more into off-road driving and mountain roads thanks to its exception 4X4 capability. Prices start from 29 lakh to 36 lakh and are a bit too on the extravagant side considering other rivals in the market.
Which cars compete in this segment?
In the Indian market, Endeavour enjoys healthy competition from Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, Mahindra Alturas G4, Isuzu MU-X and the Kia Carnival. The Endeavour is one of the best in its class and is revered by car enthusiasts the Ford quality and comfort provided in unparalleled compared to its rivals and hits the sweet spot if you have the money to spend.
Verdict (Value for money)
Compared to other SUVs in the segment, the price of the Ford Endeavour is one of the highest. But it is well justified owing to its amazing safety rating, compact design, highly powerful engine, off-road riding capability and exuding comforter inside and out. If you are a car aficionado who is looking for the best Family SUV, the Endeavour is “the” Car for you.
