2016 Suzuki Access 125 Recalled to Replace Rear Axle Shaft

Suzuki Motorcycle India has recalled 54,740 units of the 2016 Access 125 scooters in the country that were manufactured between March 8 and June 22 this year. The company has initiated the exercise as part of a service campaign and will be replacing the rear axle shaft on the affected scooters as a precautionary measure. Suzuki dealerships will be contacting the owners individually starting from July 13.
In a statement, Suzuki India said "In pursuance of Suzuki's commitment to customer satisfaction and as a matter of abundant precaution and safety, we have decided to undertake this service campaign on the New Access 125 scooters to address issues of rear axle/wheel stability that has been identified in some of these scooters."
Suzuki has said that the rear axle shaft will be replaced on the 2016 Access 125 free of cost and the company will also offer periodic maintenance service to customers who will report to the dealership for replacement. Owners can also get in touch with their respective Suzuki dealers to ascertain if their model is part of the recall.
Launched in March this year soon after its reveal at the 2016 Auto Expo, the new Suzuki Access 125 has received major upgrades comprising of improved styling with a lot of chrome thrown in for good measure, along with a new instrument console and a digital display. Power output remains the same on the new Access with the 124cc single-cylinder motor churning out 8.58bhp at 7000rpm, while torque has been lowered to 10.2Nm available at 5000rpm.
Nevertheless, the new Suzuki Access 125 did see a weight reduction of 10 kg, making it marginally quick over its predecessor. Furthermore, the Access comes equipped with Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP) technology for improved fuel efficiency. Prices for the 125 scooter commence at Rs. 53,887 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
