The Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 is the brand's first-ever adventure tourer and the motorcycle is already off to a good start in terms of sales in the US. The motorcycle is a radical departure from Harley's traditional cruiser line-up and takes on some of the full-sized ADVs on sale including the Ducati Multistrada V4, BMW R 1250 GS, Triumph Tiger 1200 and the likes. It's also Harley's attempt at making the motorcycle more relatable to the newer motorcyclists. Bookings for the Pan America 1250 are already open in India with prices announced, and here are five reasons why this adventure tourer commands your attention.

1. The Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 blends the bike maker's traditional design language with more modern elements. Stand out elements include the rectangular bar-style LED headlight, large adjustable windscreen, a massive fuel tank, spoked wheels and exposed sub-frame. Other standout elements include full LED lights, blacked-out exhaust, a bash plate and a luggage rack, all of which make the ADV ready for outdoors.

2. Harley-Davidson has developed a brand new engine for the Pan America 1250 called the Revolution Max. The 1252cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine develops a healthy 150 bhp at 9,000 rpm and 127 Nm of peak torque at 6,750 rpm. The motor comes with a counter-balanced that features variable valve timing for a wide powerband and good low-end grunt.

3. The Pan America 1250 is also big on electronics and comes with cruise control, lean-sensitive traction control and ABS, five riding modes - Rain, Road, Sport, Off-road and Off-road plus. It also gets a 6.8-inch touch TFT instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, with access to features like navigation, calls, trip data and more.

4. The Pan America 1250 Special also gets a semi-active suspension. The unit automatically controls damping to suit the prevailing conditions and riding activity. The Semi-Active Suspension system reacts to the suspension position, vehicle speed, vertical acceleration of the motorcycle, roll angle, roll rate, rider applied throttle, and applied brake torque alongside the selected Ride Mode to maintain the desired motorcycle comfort. The bike also gets the unique Adaptive Ride Height (ARH) feature, which lowers the seat height when in a stopped position, while maintaining optimal ride height when the motorcycle is in motion.

5. The Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 is priced at Rs. 16.90 lakh while the Pan America 1250 Special will set you back by Rs. 19.99 lakh. Bookings for Harley's first-ever ADV have already begun while deliveries will commence in a few weeks.
