2022 Audi A8 L Pre-Bookings Begin In India Ahead Of Launch

Audi India will bring in its flagship sedan in a refreshed avatar, as the Indian arm of the German carmaker opened pre-bookings for the 2022 Audi A8 L, the extended wheelbase version of the ultra-luxurious Audi A8. The 2022 Audi A8 L can be pre-booked with an initial token amount of Rs. 10 lakh. The 2022 Audi A8 L is a mid-cycle update to the new-generation version launched back in 2020, at Rs. 1.56 crore (ex-showroom, India), and while it came with a host of new tech, cleaner engines, and an expansive list of creature comfort features, the refreshed A8 L will only take the premium quotient to newer heights.

The 2022 Audi A8 L was revealed globally earlier this year and came with a sharpened design. The front and the rear of the 2022 Audi A8 L receive major changes, as the fascia now features a wider Singleframe grille, with ample use of chrome on its surrounding. The side air intakes are more upright, while the digital Matrix LED headlights receive a new design. In profile, the 2022 Audi A8 L retains its progressive character lines as the roof dome runs flat, while the stretched lines accentuate its length. The wide chrome clasps dominate the rear section, while the tail lamps get a customisable signature with digital OLEDs that receives a continuous, segmented light strip. The diffusor insert is also redesigned with horizontal bars.

The rear passenger seats of the 2022 Audi A8 L are as luxurious as its exterior, and even more, if we dare say. The rear is spacious with a widely tailored lounge that offers abundant open, feel-good space. Since the most time of the occupants would be spent here, Audi is offering the A8 L with a range of seats and seat equipment to make the ride as comfortable as possible and so you get relaxation seats with numerous adjustment options and a footrest on the back of the passenger seat. Apart from 18 pneumatic cushions, electrically adjustable comfort headrests, and an optional continuous center console, the 2022 Audi A8 L is also offered with optional fold-out tables, four-zone automatic air conditioning, and two 10.1-inch displays in the rear. At the front, the 2022 Audi A8 L relies on two displays that are 10.1-inch and 8.6-inch in size with an option for a head-up display.

Powering the 2022 Audi A8 facelift will be a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 coupled to a 48V mild-hybrid system, developing 340 bhp and 500 Nm of torque, coupled to an 8-speed automatic transmission with a Quattro all-wheel-drive system as standard. This accelerates the car from 0-100 kmph in 5.6 seconds, before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 209 kmph. There could also be a 4.0-litre turbocharged TFSI version on offer, that develops 460 bhp and 660 Nm of torque. This variant can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.4 seconds. One highlight of the V8 is the cylinder on-demand system (COD), which temporarily deactivates four cylinders for better fuel efficiency.

As far as safety goes, the 2022 Audi A8 L receives about 40 driver assistance systems including the Audi pre sense basic and Audi pre sense front safety systems as standard fitment, and so you get features such as night vision assistant and surround-view cameras, intersection assist, cross-traffic assist, side assist, exit warning, and the Audi pre sense 360-degree safety system, which induces a side crash enhancement in combination with the active suspension. There's also adaptive cruise assist, and a central driver assistance controller (zFAS), which calculates a model of the environment.
