Highlights

Ducati has launched the 2022 Ducati Panigale V4 range in India with prices ranging from Rs 26.49 lakh up to Rs 40.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The 2022 range is available in three variants – standard V4, V4 S and the V4 SP. The 2022 range gets a number of enhancements over the outgoing model with Ducati saying the bikes feature improved aerodynamics, ergonomics, engine, chassis and electronics.

Commenting on the launch, Bipul Chandra, Managing Director, Ducati India said, “The whole Panigale range is now updated for MY2022. The Panigale V4 and V4 S have received evolutionary changes towards better aerodynamics, engine, chassis upgrades and the Panigale V4 SP2 has now become more intuitive and easy-to-ride, even for new riders.”

Starting with the design, Ducati says that it has revised the fairing for the Panigale V4 based on its learning from MotoGP. Changes include thinner double-profile-design wings along with redesigned extraction sockets on the lower fairing to provide improved engine cooling. The seat and fuel tank too have been redesigned with the latter now larger by 1 litre with the flanks designed to offer better anchoring to riders.

Coming to the engine, the 1,103 cc Desmosedici Stradale unit gets a new silencer and oil filter which sees power output jump to 212.5 bhp at 13,000 rpm and 123.6 Nm of peak torque at 9,500 rpm. The unit is paired with a new 6-speed gearbox which Ducati says offers improved on-track performance and a higher top speed. To this end the gearbox features longer gear ratios for the first, second and sixth gears. Also new for the MY2022 bikes are the Full and Low ride modes that join the previously available High and Medium – also revised – to allow bikers to select the engine output configuration. Full brings out the full power on tap without electronic filters while Low limits power to 148 bhp.

Other changes under the skin include a rear swingarm pivot that has been positioned higher by 4 mm. Ducati says that this helps eliminate some of the bike’s tendency to squat and stabilise acceleration. Coming to the suspension, the standard V4 features a fully adjustable set-up with a Showa Big Piston Fork up front and a mono-shock at the rear. The V4 S meanwhile gets electronically adjustable Ohlins suspension that can adjust in rear time based on data from on-board sensors.

SP2 gets a number of upgrades including a dry plate clutch, Brembo MCS radial master cylinder and magnesium wheels.

The SP2 meanwhile is a special edition model featuring a number of cosmetic enhancements. The bike comes finished in the “Winter test” livery with matt carbon finished components, brushed aluminium fuel tank. Buyers also get the option of a Akropovich race exhaust which bumps up engine power by 12.3 bhp. The bike also sits on new magnesium wheels to help save weight

The SP2 is also the only variant of the Panigale V4 to get a dry plate clutch and a Brembo MCS radial master cylinder.
