The Suzuki Katana is the latest litre-class motorcycle to grace Indian shores but this offering is special for a number of reasons. The Katana brings back the iconic design language of the 1981 motorcycle in a modern-retro package, while the motorcycle shares its underpinnings with the Suzuki GSX-S1000F. Priced At Rs. 13.61 lakh (ex-showroom), it's also one of the more accessible superbikes in its class. Suzuki Motorcycle India has only the bare essentials for the Katana at the moment. This includes a carbon finish design tank pad worth Rs. 3136, fuel cap protection priced at Rs. 2048 and side protection foil at Rs. 3705. With the model being a fairly new model and fully imported in India, we reckon more accessories will be introduced at a later date depending on the demand and popularity. Compared to other litre-class offerings, the Suzuki Katana stand out impressively and its pricing should help it find more homes in the country easily.

On the performance front, the Katana draws power from the familiar 999 cc, liquid-cooled, inline four-cylinder, DOHC K5 engine that belts out 150 bhp at 11,000 rpm and 106 Nm at 9,250 rpm. The design language makes it not only stylish in appearance but also blessed with comfortable ergonomics, which will be appreciated by more riders. The bike also comes with the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.) which offers a variety of advanced electronic control systems. The bike also gets five-level traction control, Suzuki Easy Start, Suzuki Drive Mode Selector and more.

The Suzuki Katana has a kerb weight of 217 kg and comes with a rather small 12-litre fuel tank. The bike gets USD front forks with 17-inch wheels, with a 120 mm wide front tyre and a 160-section rear tyre. Braking is handled by Brembo-sourced calipers. The bike competes with the Kawasaki Ninja 1000 SX in the segment.
