Electricity, the one word which helped connect the world in a way that was never even conceptualized. The world has moved far ahead compared to a decade ago and we all owe it to this one thing. Though electricity has been a part and parcel of our lives, there are only few who have embraced it in the automotive world.

Cars that run on batteries/electricity are expensive and yes they are. But there is another part to the story which says that they are boring. Boring, because they are slow and take a long to charge and are drab looking. Well, the Technische Universitat Munchen (TUM) wants you to think again about this as they unveiled the Visio.M concept. Jointly developed by TUM researchers and industry experts, the Visio.M is being billed as a sporty, safe and affordable electric vehicle.

While the exterior is stylish and compact, the two-seater cabin is a little plain. Despite this, there's a digital instrument cluster, a flat bottomed steering wheel and an adjustable infotainment display. The car is powered by a 13.5 kWh lithium-ion battery which feeds an electric motor that develops 20 bhp. This doesn't sound like much but it will enable the model to hit a top speed of 120 km/h and travel up to 160 km on a single charge. When the battery is depleted, it can be recharged in approximately three to four hours with a 230 V outlet.

Cars from Tesla have time and again showed that Electric cars aren't boring and the fact, that even the FIA has bowed down to all-electric racing series, shows the potential of a battery-powered car. There is a lot of potential and the cars that you see in the market now are just the tip of the ice berg.
