Auto Expo 2016: 2017 Hyundai Elantra Will Be Showcased

Hyundai has decided to opt for a different design approach with the new Elantra. Rather than basing it on the company's Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language, Hyundai has chosen to give it a substantially different look. Which is why you see the chrome accented, 5-slat hexagonal front grille which has a lot of Genesis G90 luxury sedan in it.
The HID head-lamps with Dynamic Bending Lights are equipped with LED strips and are visually similar to those seen on present generation Jaguar sedans, particularly the new XE. The front fascia also features vertically stacked LED DRLs integrated within the bumper.

Though the Elantra doesn't borrow design cues from the Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 philosophy, it still retains the slick, aerodynamic profile as the outgoing version and is still quite the looker. The elegant roofline merges with its tall boot-section, giving the Elantra a coupe-esque look. The car is also noticeably leaner than its predecessor that highlights its clean lines and curves. The rear-end profile of the car features slender, horizontally placed LED tail-lamps, and a boot-lip spoiler.

There are changes made to the interiors as well. The cabin now gets an all-black colour scheme accentuated by silver-grey highlights. The black and white instrument cluster is clean and easy to read while the large Harman touchscreen infotainment system unit has been angled towards the driver. Overall, the dashboard is decked out with premium quality, soft touch materials which should ensure that the Elantra's cabin will exhibit a premium and more upmarket look and feel to it. On the technology front, the car will feature Smart Cruise Control, hands-free Smart Trunk, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and BlueLink connectivity for your personal smart gadgets.

Expect the Hyundai Elantra to feature the GDi engines (Gasoline direct injection) while when it comes to the diesel, we expect it to get the 1.6-litre engine which is more powerful and fuel-efficient. The new Hyundai Elantra's body and chassis have been strengthened by the use of high strength steel and this makes it exceptionally stable and safe. The steering system has been upgraded to Motor Driven Power Steering (MDPS) for a more connected driving experience. Other safety features include Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) with Pedestrian Detection, High Beam Assist (HBA), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA), Lane Departure Warning, and Lane Change Assistance.
