Auto Expo 2018: Honda Civic To Be Showcased Ahead Of India Launch

Honda Cars India will be showcasing the new-gen Honda Civic at the upcoming Auto Expo 2018, in Delhi. The Japanese automaker will be showcasing the global-spec model at the Auto Expo Motor Show as a concept for the India-spec model which will possibly reach our shores only in 2019. Honda will be showcasing the facelifted version of the car that is yet to make its public debut, along with the new-gen Honda CR-V. The carmaker will also be introducing the new-generation Honda Amaze sub-compact sedan.

Globally, the Honda Civic is offered in three body types - Coupe, Sedan and Hatchback, and India will most likely get the Sedan version. The current-generation model was first introduced in 2015 and went on sale in the US and the European markets as a 2016 model. Globally, the Civic is offered with a host of engine options - 1.5L VTEC TURBO engine and 2.0-litre i-VTEC, 16-valve, port-injected, inline 4-cylinder engine. Honda also offers a 3-cylinder 1.0 L VTEC Turbo petrol engine and 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine in the European markets. There is a Honda Civic Type R as well that comes from the turbocharged 2.0 litre, four-cylinder engine that makes 315 bhp of power and 400 Nm of torque.
Visually, the new Honda Civic comes with sporty design language with stylish LED headlamps, bold character lines, sporty alloy wheels, and LED taillamps among other standard and optional features. The new Civic comes with a nice fastback-like look at the rear with the rear C-pillar flowing into the tailgate, which is accentuated by the prominent taillamps. The face of the Honda Civic features a new chrome wing design that flows across the top of the headlamps.
The Honda Civic was one of the most popular offerings in the D-segment sedan space in India. First launched in the year 2006 the Civic was in production until 2013 and received a couple of facelift in the seven years the car spent in the Indian market before it was pulled out of production due to low demand. Upon launch, the car will rival the likes of the Hyundai Elantra, Skoda Octavia, Toyota Corolla Altis, and the Volkswagen Jetta.
