Armoured or bulletproof cars are gaining more and more popularity with time. Firstly, it ensures maximum security in case there's any kind of threat to one's life. Secondly, these cars are immortal which means they can live forever. There are several car manufacturers that make bulletproof cars. We take a look at the top four of them that are in production and accessible to civilians.

With an aramide fabric, special aluminium alloys and hot-formed steel armour which offers VR 9 class protection without the added weight, this Audi A8 L Security is class combined with security. On the surface of it, the A8 looks anything but armoured. And that's the beauty of it. It boasts of an armoured communication box in the luggage compartment, intercom, selective door unlocking, emergency exit systems, fire extinguishing systems and an emergency fresh air system.

The Range Rover Sentinel can take you places; be it off the road or on it. But, what sets it apart from other Rovers is the fact that it will protect you from all kinds of harm. Based on the popular Autobiography edition, this Sentinel comes armoured to withstand a blast from a DM51 grenade and satisfy VR 8 level ballistic threats. That's not all; it also gets an anti-tamper exhaust, auxiliary back-up battery, self-sealing fuel tank and tyre inserts that allow the vehicle to continue driving on flats.

BMW X5 Security Plus

Based on the regular X5 xDrive50i variant, the X5 Security Plus gets bulletproof armour with a specially designed safety glass and a thoroughly reinforced body structure. BMW promises that neither bullets nor splinters can penetrate the passenger compartment. This can be attributed to the steel plating and additional sealing around the window frames and pillars.

Mercedes Maybach Pullman Guard

The Maybach Pullman Guard is for those who want to be protected in the most stylish and luxurious manner. It gets steel plates on the sides and floor, and non-Kevlar high-strength fabrics along with polycarbonate-backed windows that are resistive to bullets and explosives. Being the longest Maybach, the Pullman Guard guarantees utmost comfort and luxury to all passengers. It also comes with a hefty price tag of $1.56 million.
