5 XUV 700 Features That Are Available In Luxury Cars

- Everything from a panoramic sunroof to ADAS has made it into the car.
- A range of safety features makes the XUV 700 incredibly safe to drive.
- The XUV 700 offers all these traits at an incredibly low price.
There was an immense buzz about the Mahindra XUV 700 in the weeks leading up to its unveiling. And sure enough, the vehicle didn't disappoint. With its price starting at Rs. 11.99 lakh, it even undercuts the XUV 500, which will apparently be replaced by the new model. This new car sure seems to be ready to cause a huge disruption in the Indian market. Despite its relatively low price, it includes features that are not usually accessible in its price range. In fact, some of those features are seen in Mercedes cars, which are two to three times more expensive than the Mahindra SUV. Here are some features of the XUV 700 that are found in Mercedes vehicles.
Panoramic sunroof

This is one feature that has never before been seen in this price segment. The panoramic sunroof onboard the XUV 700 is truly drool-worthy. Mahindra calls it the Skyroof and it's only available from AX5 variant onwards. It opens up to such an extent that it almost turns the car into a convertible. Panoramic sunroofs have always been the domain of high-end vehicles and several Mercedes cars have them. Take for instance the C-Class that's available in India, which creates a genuine open-air ambience when the large area of glass slides open.

Driver Drowsiness Detection System

One of the many unique safety features that Mahindra has chosen to equip the XUV 700 with is a Driver Drowsiness Detention System. It's exactly what it sounds like. When the car notices your head dipping, it immediately sends out a warning for you to take some rest. This is similar to the Attention Assist feature onboard Mercedes cars. It's an advanced system that keeps comparing the data regarding the driver's driving style to past observations in order to notice any irregularities.
Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS)

This is one of the most appreciated aspects of the XUV 700. ADAS includes a suite of features aimed at making a driver's job safe and easy. It includes adaptive cruise control, which automatically changes the speed if a vehicle is ahead of you. Autonomous emergency braking is also part of this system, aside from lane keep assist. The XUV 700's ADAS even includes frontal collision warning and Electronic stability control. A feature that's more helpful to those in the opposite lane is High Beam Assist, which temporarily switches headlights to low beam in case of oncoming traffic. ADAS even includes traffic sign recognition, which is a pretty slick feature to have. All these traits are unheard of in this price category and were earlier the domain of cars like the Mercedes.

Electronic Park Brake

Another feature that has trickled down into the XUV 700 from high-end cars like Mercedes is Electronic Park Brake (EPB). It removes the need for the large lever that would earlier allow you to set the parking brake. An EPB is a tiny button that can be engaged with just one finger and you don't even have to disengage it yourself. Just press the accelerator or clutch (in the case of manual cars) and your car will start moving again, provided that your seatbelt is fastened.
Custom drive modes

You can choose from four drive modes when driving your XUV 700. These include Zip, Zap, Zoom, or custom. Zip is meant for city-based driving, Zap is meant for highway driving, while Zoom is made to extract the maximum performance from your vehicle. Again, this is one more feature that used to be the domain of more expensive vehicles than this one. Cars from Mercedes have these driving modes as well, though they do have many more options than the XUV 700 does.

Seven airbags

Adding to the many safety features on the XUV 700 is its incorporation of seven airbags. The driver and passenger get knee protection airbags apart from the regular ones, while all other passengers will be protected by curtain airbags. This is yet another feature that we've increasingly been seeing on Mercedes vehicles of late.
So, what do you think of these amazing features that the XUV 700 is offering?
