CV Sales December 2021: Ashok Leyland Records Sales Decline Of 2%

The home-grown commercial vehicle manufacturer, Ashok Leyland, has announced the sales numbers for the month of December 2021. Last month, the company's overall volumes stood at 12,518 units compared to 12,760 vehicles sold during the same month a year ago, registering a marginal Year-on-Year (Y-o-Y) decline of 2 per cent. Compared to November 2021, when its total sales (Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles + Light Commercial Vehicles) stood at 10,480 units, the Hinduja Group's flagship company recorded a Month-on-Month (M-o-M) growth of 19.4 per cent last month.

Ashok Leyland's total sales for the domestic market stood at 11,493 units, which is a 3 per cent decline YoY compared to 11,855 units. Compared to 9,364 units in November 2021, the automaker witnessed an MoM growth of 22.7 per cent in the domestic market.

On the other hand, the company's total exports stood at 1025 units in December 2021, and it recorded a growth of 13.2 per cent compared to 905 units exported during the same month a year ago. Compared to 1,116 vehicles that were exported in November 2021, the commercial vehicle maker recorded an M-o-M de-growth of over 8 per cent.
The total sales of Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicle (M&HCV), which includes trucks and buses, stood at 7,619 units in December 2021, which is 11 per cent growth compared to 6,882 units sold during the same month in 2020. However, the M&HCV Bus space saw a decline of 57 per cent with 1020 units sold last month compared to 649 units retailed in the corresponding month last year. The light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment saw a decline of 17 per cent last month with 4,899 units retailed, as against 5,878 units sold in December 2020.
