Daimler Truck Launches Innovation And Development Centre In Bengaluru

- Daimler opens innovation and development centre in Bengaluru
- The centre will work on innovations and tech for all Daimler Truck brands
- Daimler Truck wants to leverage the talent capabilities in the region
Commercial vehicle manufacturer, Daimler Truck, has announced setting up an innovation and development centre in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The company says that the new Daimler Truck Innovation Centre India or DTICI will be an epicentre for future innovations which will leverage the talent capabilities in the region. The centre will also focus on research, product engineering and IT capabilities to empower all business units and brands of Daimler Truck worldwide. In addition to Daimler Truck, it will also cater to Mercedes-Benz Trucks, Freightliner, Western Star, Thomas Built Buses, Fuso, Bharat Benz, and EvoBus GmbH.
Commenting on the launch of the new facility, Raghavendra Vaidya, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Daimler Truck Innovation Centre India said, "DTICI will provide competitive advantage by building deep engineering and IT capabilities to achieve zero-emission and industry-leading innovations in the area of software and electronics for all Daimler Truck and Bus brands across the globe. Our combined strength in product engineering ranging from design, computer-aided engineering (CAE), Mechatronics and IT, coupled with a rich talent pool, will bring new technologies to the road even faster than before and more efficiently."

Daimler Truck Holding AG (Daimler Truck) was formed as an independent company focusing on trucks and buses, in December 2021. As a leading global CV maker, the company wanted to create a dedicated product engineering and IT centre in Bangalore, India. The engineering team at the centre will focus on a range of topics including vehicle engineering, powertrain engineering, software development for electronic control units, computer-aided engineering (CAE), computer-aided design (CAD), IT programming using complex engineering tools and methods.

The centre will also work on connectivity, cyber security, big data and advanced analytics, system integration and electrification topics. It will also have a design team that will focus on developing class-leading interiors and exteriors for the extensive range of trucks and buses.
