Datsun GO - 2015 CNB Viewers' Choice Award Nominee

When Nissan announced that they were bringing in a sub-brand to target segments like the small car, MPV and sub-4 metre sedan, we were left wondering as to what exactly they had in stored. After having announced that all these segments will be targeted under the Datsun brand, there were many auto enthusiasts who applauded the decision of the company bringing back a brand which was thought to be lost for eternity.
For those who don't know the brand, well Datsun's original production run began in 1931. Then, from 1958-86 Nissan exported cars under the Datsun brand. But in '86 the Japanese company decided to phase out the brand but that was not going to be the last we would see of it. The Datsun brand was re-launched in India in 2013 with the sole purpose of making low-cost cars for the India, Indonesian, Russian and South African markets.
Datsun introduced the GO in India to become a formidable competitor to small cars from Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai. The GO has more space and a tad bit more power than cars from the other manufacturers and managed to dent sales of both manufacturers till it was hit by the Global NCAP crash tests which said that the cars were unsafe; structurally. The GO comes sans safety features but the design of the car is still appealing and the price even more so.
