Elon Musk Says Tesla To Have Robot Prototype By The End Of September 2022

- Tesla wants to start manufacturing the Bot by 2023
- Tesla showed off the project for the first time last year
- In 2022, Musk says the Optimus will be the most important project
Elon Musk has touted that for Tesla the most important project in 2022 will be its "Tesla Bot", a humanoid robot it announced last year. Now Musk has revealed that the electric car maker could have a working prototype of the humanoid robot by September 30. Musk has said that there could be announcements on day 2 of Tesla's AI day event which will happen on September 30. The robot project is now internally called "Optimus" based on the Transformers cartoon series by Hasbro. Last year, Tesla had also announced its AI chip for the Dojo supercomputer which will be possibly the fastest supercomputer on the planet.
The AI day event was earlier supposed to happen on August 19, but the billionaire tweeted that the event had been delayed. He noted that there will be a working prototype of the Optimus by then.

Musk has been hyper aggressive about the Optimus timelines
Tesla has ambitions of starting production of the robot by 2023 and after announcing the original bot last year, the company started actively hiring people for the project. Tesla also revealed that it will be using its self-driving technology to enable the robot to understand the world around it.
Musk revealed that the Optimus would initially be programmed to do repeatable tasks and help out with its own manufacturing operations. Musk believes that Optimus could help solve the employment issues.
