F1: 2018 Sauber C37 With New Alfa Romeo Livery Revealed

Sauber is the latest F1 team to pull the wraps off its 2018 Formula 1 car and has revealed the C37 for the latest season. This is the first F1 car from Swiss outfit to be produced under the partnership of Alfa Romeo. The Italian manufacturer makes a comeback to the sport after 33 years and has been signed on in a multi-year technical and commercial partnership with Sauber F1. For 2018, the C37 gets a host of changes in a bid to meet the new regulations, as well as new livery as well themed after its new title sponsor. The 2018 Sauber C37 will have Marcus Ericsson and Ferrari rookie Charles Leclerc in th driver's seat, with the latter having replaced Jolyon Palmer.

Sauber F1 comes closer to its association with Ferrari this season, thanks to the sponsorship with Alfa Romeo and the latter's branding takes prominence on the livery. The blue and gold paint scheme has been replaced by the red and white corporate colours of Alfa Romeo, while its logo features boldly on the C37's engine cover. Sauber also says the C37 adopts a new aero philosophy over the C36 in a bid to deliver a step forward in form. The Halo cockpit safety device remains a major addition as well.

The C37 will using the latest Ferrari power unit this season, unlike last year where it settled for a year-older engine. This, in addition to all the changes, is expected to give a significant boost to the car in performance and make it more competitive as well.

The upcoming season will also be Sauber F1 team principal, Fred Vasseur's first full season with the team. Vasseur had stepped in mid-season after Monisha Kaltenborn stepped out halfway through 2017. Monisha had partnered with Honda for its engines for 2018, but the deal fell apart post Kaltenborn's departure.

This year will not only be important for Sauber as it aims to rise in ranks in the constructors' standings, but will also be a test for its new driver Leclerc. The Ferrari protege is expected to bring in some novelty for the team with a promising track record to fall back on. Meanwhile, Marcus Ericsson will also have to prove his worth as he steps into his fourth season with Sauber.
