Ferrari Purosangue SUV To Get V12 Engine

- Ferrari has teased the V12 engine for its new "thoroughbred" model
- Engine chosen for its levels of performance and driving experience
- Purosangue to make its debut later this year.
Ferrari seems to have more plans for its iconic V12 engine with the carmaker having reportedly confirmed that the Purosangue SUV will use the engine. The company also released a set of new teasers previewing the engine. The image and brief video clip shared on social media and on the company's website show the iconic Ferrari red engine cover with the brand's name along with some of the engine's internals. The carmaker said that the engine would be used in a new “thoroughbred” model and celebrate the V12's “bloodline of performance, innovation and excellence.” The name Purosangue translates to “thoroughbred” in English.
According to a Reuters report, Ferrari Chief Executive Benedetto Vigna has confirmed that the Purosangue will use a V12 engine. Ferrari's CEO said that the company had tested several engine options for its first SUV before settling on the V12 for its levels of performance and driving experience.

The Purosangue would therefore be Ferrari's first all-new V12 series production model – not considering one-off commissions - to debut since 2018 when it rolled out the 812 Superfast. The company did reveal the 812 Competizione last year though it is a limited series model based on the 812. Ferrari has not detailed the changes it has made to the V12 engine for the Purosangue SUV though we could expect more details to surface as the debut nears. The Purosangue is set to make its debut later this year.
