Ferrari To Launch 2022 F1 Challenger on Feb 17

- A lot of behind the scenes work has gone into the car
- The car has a benefit of more wind tunnel and CFD time than rivals
- Ferrari also has a new engine which could equalise things on the straight
Ferrari has announced that it will launch its 2022 F1 car on February 17, 2022. The car will be driven by arguably the best driver pairing on the grid - Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz Jr. The pair propelled the Italian major to an impressive P3 with Sainz Jr managing P5 in the constructor's championship in his first year at the team.
The new car will be based on the new technical regulations for aerodynamics that feature ground effect returning to F1 since the 80s. The idea behind the new cars is to make racing smoother for the drivers, but likely, these new cars will be slightly slower than the ones we saw in 2021.
The cars will be slower as the new teams adapt to the new technical regulations and come up with new aerodynamic concepts alongside the addition of a new E10 biofuel which will take up 10 percent of the overall fuel mix. Ferrari along with Shell though have said to recover the performance loss already.

Ferrari is said to be going very aggressive with the design of the car with a new nose and a pull rod suspension on the front. It also has a new engine in the works which is said to counter its main weakness of the last two years which prevented the team from taking the fight to Red Bull and Mercedes.
The aim of Ferrari is to compete for the world championship in 2022 even if it cannot win it. It however wants to be winning races regularly considering for the first time since the early 90s Ferrari has gone two seasons without a race win.
The last time a Ferrari won a race was in 2019 with Sebastian Vettel winning the Singapore GP. Interestingly, Vettel's new team Aston Martin is so far the only other team that has announced when it would unveil its 2022 challenger.
