How To Get A Duplicate Driving Licence?

A driving license not only gives you the freedom to legally drive your vehicle from place to place but sometimes it acts as identity proof. Many times people lose these licenses. Documents to present while applying
When you are going to apply for a driving license at the office, you need to submit some documents for the authentication of your identity. All these documents are required to obtain a duplicate license. However, the list of documents can be different from one state to another.
- Application form of LLD
- A copy of FIR or NCR in case you lost the license, or it is stolen
- Original license ( in case it is torn or mutilated)
- Photocopies of the driving License
- Passport size photograph
- Address proof and age proof documents for authentication
- Details of the Driving License
Online procedure to follow for a duplicate driving license
As we have come across a time when online service is most desirable, RTOs managed to offer a hassle-free service through online procedure. One can search on the internet to know more about the facility offered by the states.
The online procedure is as follows –
- First, you need to fill the LLD form carefully and submit it where the upload option is available on the website.
- Once you submit the form, you need to print out the filled LLD form, attach the photograph, and sign it.
- Handover the LLD form at the nearest RTO office, where you got your original driving license from.
- Submit all the required documents; however, you need not to take the driving test again like before.
- Once you are done with everything, hold your patience because your duplicate driving license will be delivered as the time comes via post.
- Before you get the duplicate driving license, you will be provided with a receipt that will work in lieu until you receive the duplicate one.

Offline procedure to follow
If you by any mean stay near any RTO office, offline application for the duplicate driving license gets easier than online standpoint. Follow the given steps to get your job done offline-
- First, you need to visit the RTO office that previously issued you a driving license. Ask for the LLD form to fill for the driving license.
- Once you fill the form, submit it with the required documents that are already mentioned above.
- You may need to pay a nominal fee to receive the duplicate driving license. Once this is done, the office will send your license to your registered home address via post.

The motor vehicle act 1988 made it mandatory for car owners to have a driving license in their possession. A driving license has another purpose to serve other than being mere identity proof.
