Hyundai Ioniq 9 Officially Teased Ahead Of November Debut

- First seen as Concept Seven in 2021
- Will follow the design philosophy seen on all Hyundai EVs
- Based on the same versatile E-GMP platform
Hyundai showcased the Concept Seven in 2021 as the range-topping full-size SUV of the all-electric Ioniq line-up. But now, the Korean carmaker has realized that a few more models can be added to the alphanumeric naming scheme, and Concept Seven will enter the production guise with a new name—Ioniq 9. The first official teaser for the new EV flagship SUV is out, and the global premiere is set to happen in November.

From the teaser released by the carmaker, the silhouette of the Ioniq 9 doesn’t appear to sway away from the Concept Seven in any way. It's still large and full-size with straight character lines and the retro-futuristic pixelated design theme seen on both Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6. With the ‘parametric pixels’ light bar on the fascia, there will be pop-out door handles, prominent wheel arches, and tall vertical pixel-style tail lamps vertically stacked on the D-pillar.

Being based on the same E-GMP platform shared with other EVs including the EV9. This means the dimensions are expected to be similar along with the powertrain choices. We expect the 76kWh battery pack to be offered with the Ioniq 9 along with the bigger 100kWh unit. Power output and range figures are also expected to be similar to its sibling. Power output will range from 200bhp to 380bhp before the more powerful N derivative arrives.

More details will be revealed in the coming days in a run-up to the final global premiere. After it goes on sale in the European and American markets sometime in 2025, we also expect the Ioniq 9 to make its way to the Indian shores.
