Hyundai Teases New N Sports Car Ahead of July 15 Debut

- Hyundai releases three teasers for new N cars set to debut on July 15
- Teasers likely preview upcoming N variants of Hyundai's new Ioniq EVs
- Covered car teaser likely previews an all-new N specific sports car
Hyundai has shared a pair of teasers showcasing new models from its N performance brand. While one teaser just shows a blurry model zipping down a straight on a citcuit, the second shows a covered sports car. While Hyundai is yet to reveal any details on the model, the mystery sports car could be part of the company’s current joint project with Rimac to develop an electric sports car. While the two companies ended most joint projects with talks of Hyundai wanting to end its association with the electric supercar manufacturer, the joint electric sports car programme is understood to still be making it to production. With 2023 said to be the tentative date of it making its debut, the covered sportscar could be a concept for the upcoming model.
The teasers reveals a long low set bonnet with the angled cover up front suggesting a prominent splitter on the front bumper. Other notable details include a flat roof and raked rear windscreen along with a prominent spoiler on the boot lid.
Hyundai is currently working on a hotter variant of the Ioniq 5 likely being previewed in this teaser.
The model is likely to be all electric with Hyundai saying that the model would envision “the future of N with Legacy”. A second post on Hyundai’s Facebook page in its home market states that they will be announcing details for a “next generation high-performance car”.
Hyundai is also reported to be working on a high-performance derivative of its Ioniq 5 EV which could likely be the blurry model from the second teaser. The company has been testing preproduction prototypes on international roads with the production car likely to use a powertrain similar to that on the Kia EV6 GT.
Third teaser likely previews a hotter variant to the recently revealed Ioniq 6
A third teaser by the company showcased what looks to be the rear of the recently revealed Ioniq 6 electric streamliner with the pixel design full-width tail-lamps and a prominent rear spoiler. The car is covered in a cloud of tyre smoke suggesting that the Ioniq 6 N could very much be in the works too.
Since its inception, Hyundai has rolled out a number of performances models under its N brand across the globe ranging from warm N-Line variants to full blown N models such as the i20 N, Kona N and Elantra N.
