Jaguar XE Long Wheelbase Spotted Testing At Nurburgring

- The Jaguar XE LWB might be unveiled next year in China
- In all probability, it will mainly be for the Chinese market
- Last year, Jaguar had launched the XF LWB for the Chinese market
Stretched luxury sedans are in vogue these days, apparently. Last year, Jaguar introduced the XFL (XF Long wheelbase) in China, which had additional 157 mm legroom for the rear passengers. And this year, following close on the heels of the XF, Jaguar is all set to bring in a long wheelbase version of the XE sedan as well. In fact, the company has been testing the XE LWB at the hallowed testing grounds of Nurburgring. The Jaguar XE LWB will be going up against the likes of Audi A4L, 3-Series LWB, and the C-Class L.
(Jaguar XE Long Wheelbase spyshot)China has always been approving of stretched models, which have more room at the rear. The trend is not so prevalent in India although, some luxury carmakers offer their sedan models in the LWB version as standard. For example, Audi A8, Mercedes-Benz E-Class and so on.
The current wheelbase of the Jaguar XE is 2,835 mm and it is not known by how much, will Jaguar elongate the wheelbase/length of the XE sedan in order to make it a long wheelbase model. There will be slightly longer rear doors which will make it easier for passengers to get in/out of the car. The idea behind the Jaguar XE LWB is to offer customers a car which has more space than the regular XE and still will not be as expensive as the regular Jaguar XF.
(Jaguar XE Long Wheelbase spyshot)Expect the Jaguar XE LWB to make its official debut sometime next year, probably at the 2018 Beijing Motor Show as in all probability; this will be yet another model restricted only to the Chinese automobile market.
