Nitin Gadkari, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways has said that he's contemplating a legislation to curb the practice of wrongly parked vehicles on the streets. Under the new law, anyone who takes a photo of a wrongly parked vehicle, which often results in the clogging of roads, and sends it to the authorities, he/she will be rewarded for the act. In case the fine on the offender works up to Rs. 1,000, then the person who reported to activity could get a reward of up to Rs. 500.

According to the Press Trust of India (PTI), the announcement was made by Gadkari earlier today, while addressing an event in New Delhi. Speaking at the event the Union Minister said that he wants to bring a law under which a person sending a photograph of a wrongly parked vehicle will get Rs. 500 if the total fine works out to be Rs. 1,000. Nitin Gadkari regretted that people do not make parking spaces for their vehicles, instead, their vehicles occupy the road. As of now, neither Gadkari nor the transport ministry has shared more details about this new law which is under consideration, however, if this legislation is passed, we believe it will certainly help deter parking offences.
