The Honda City e:HEV was launched in India earlier this month and is the first vehicle in the compact sedan segment to offer a strong hybrid set-up. Priced at Rs 19.50 lakh, the City e:HEV is limited to just the fully-loaded ZX variant as is also the first car in the segment to get ADAS technology.
Unlike the mild-hybrid system used by some competitors, the City e:HEV uses a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with two electric motors to put out a combined 124 bhp and 253 Nm of torque. The sedan is also capable of running on electric power alone for a limited range with the engine and electric motors alternating or combining depending on the driving style or drive mode selected. Honda claims the City Hybrid can deliver a segment-leading 26.5 kmpl fuel economy figure. You can read more about it in our review here.

Honda calls the City a self-charging hybrid with the engine not only powering the wheels but also charging the onboard battery pack and supplying power to the electric motors.
On the tech front, aside from all the bells and whistles from the regular City, the Hybrid also debut's Honda Sensing ADAS technology in India. ADAS features offered include Lane Change Assist, Pedestrian Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Collision Mitigation Braking and Auto High Beam Assist.
The City Hybrid is manufactured alongside the rest of Honda's range of cars at the company's plant in Tapukara, Rajasthan.
