Mahindra XUV300 Base Variant Spotted Ahead Of Launch

- Mahindra XUV300 will be launched in India around mid-February

A new set of spy shots of the Mahindra XUV300 have surfaced online and this time around we get to see the cabin of one of the base models of the upcoming SUV. While Mahindra hasn't revealed the variant details of its new subcompact SUV, we believe, like the XUV500, the XUV300 will also use the W prefix and is likely to be offered in four variants W4, W6, W8, and W10. And this particular model appears to be the W4.

Up front, this base variant of the Mahindra XUV300 will come with the same design but will miss out on all the chrome bits and foglamps. Instead, the base model will come with basic black cladding for the bumper, along with standard halogen headlamps, and black bumper lip, unlike the top-end model which will come with a silver skid plate. The ORVMs do not appear to come with integrated turn signal lights either. The rear section, on the other hand, comes with LED taillamps, high-mounted stop lamp, and a heavily cladded rear bumper.

While we do not get to see the entire cabin in these images, we do have a clear look at the centre console, instrument cluster, and the driver side in-car controls. The centre stage is taken by a standard infotainment display with all the buttons and control knobs around. The SUV will also get climate control, although this one is a manual unit. Other bits include a power socket, possibly a 12V unit, along with a USB and AUX-IN port. We also get to see the 6-speed manual gearbox lever, which will be standard for both petrol and diesel models.

While the engine details are yet to be officially confirmed, but under the hood, we expect the new Mahindra XUV300 to come with a 1.5-litre diesel and a newly developed 1.2-litre G80 turbocharged petrol engine. Transmission duties will be taken care of 6-speed manual gearbox as standard, while an automatic option is likely to come in later.
Upon launch, the new Mahindra XUV300, being a sub-4 metre SUV, will ideally compete with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport. While the launch date is yet to be announced, Mahindra has announced that the launch will take place around mid-February 2019, while industry rumours say it will be the February 15. In fact, few of the Mahindra dealers in India have already started accepting bookings for the all-new XUV300.
