Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza AMT In The Pipeline, Might Be Launched Soon

- The Vitara Brezza AMT will come powered by the same 1.3-litre DDiS engine
- The car is unlikely to receive any design upgrades
- Its cabin will also remain unchanged
Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza AMT was showcased at the 2016 Indonesia Auto Show earlier this month. While the car is unlikely to be launched in Indonesia, it will most certainly arrive in India. With that said, it is unclear exactly when the Vitara Brezza AMT will be launched in India. Word has it that though Maruti Suzuki planned to bring in the car by the end of this year, it may be a stretch considering the unavailability of the requisite gearbox.
Interestingly, our sources tell us the automaker is working on producing its own Automated Manual Transmission system. If this is indeed true, it is likely to bring down Maruti Suzuki cars' cost. However, Maruti Suzuki dismissed the report and added that it is content with its current supplier for AMT units - Magneti Marelli, and has no immediate plan to switch.
P.S: At present, AMT units used in all Maruti Suzuki cars are sourced from Magneti Marelli.

The Maruti Vitara Brezza AMT will remain unchanged mechanically; it will continue to derive power from the same 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine that, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, develops 89bhp and delivers 200Nm of maximum torque. The AMT unit is not expected to have any major effect on these numbers.
The Vitara Brezza AMT is not likely to feature any changes in terms of design and equipment either, as ascertained by other Maruti Suzuki AMT cars such as the Celerio, Dzire and Alto K10. Long story short, it will continue to sport the floating roof design, projector head-lamps, LED guide lights, under-body plastic cladding, roof rails, faux skid plates, etc.. The cabin too will continue to be offered with the manual Maruti Vitara Brezza's all-black interior, piano black centre console, touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay & Smart Connect, and cooled glove box among other provisions.
