Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza Beats Ford EcoSport's Sales in March

- Maruti Brezza's prime competition is Ford's current best-seller -EcoSport
- Ford had slashed EcoSport's price days after Vitara Brezza's launch
- 4,456 units of the Ford EcoSport were sold last month
Maruti Suzuki, India's largest carmaker, recently marked its entry in the sub-4metre SUV segment with the Vitara Brezza. The SUV had created quite a buzz in the country even before its launch that persisted after the fact too. Maruti Vitara Brezza garnered 2,600 orders within 24 hours of its launch, and the number went over 40,000 nearly a month later. If those numbers weren't enough to vouch for its indisputable popularity, here's a fact that will: according to recent sales figures, the Vitara Brezza beat the Ford EcoSport in the sales department last month.

Maruti Suzuki Brezza's prime competition is Ford's current best-seller - the EcoSport. The American carmaker's sub-compact SUV first arrived here in mid-2013 and observed instant success. Even as EcoSport's sales saw a gradual drop, it continued to be both, the bestseller and the benchmark for the segment. Until now at least.

Maruti Suzuki sold 5,563 units of the Vitara Brezza in March, 2016 while Ford sold 4,456 units of the EcoSport. This is despite the fact that Ford slashed the EcoSport's price only days after the Maruti Brezza's launch. With that said, the Maruti Brezza's list of direct rivals also includes the Mahindra TUV300 and the Mahindra NuvoSport. Mahindra sold 2,614 units of the relatively older TUV300 last month, and 1,298 units of the NuvoSport.

Mahindra TUV300
There is little doubt that the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is here to stay. However, it remains to be seen how its competition decides to raise their game as the Brezza gnaws away at their market share.
