Mid-Level Skoda Kushaq Ambition Trim Likely To Get The 1.5-Litre TSI Engine

- The 1.5-litre TSI engine only comes with the top-end Style trim right now
- The Skoda Kushaq comes in three variants - Active, Ambient, and Style
- The Kushaq's 1.5-litre TSI engine makes 148 bhp and 250 Nm
The Skoda Kushaq is the newest entrant in the compact SUV segment, and the SUV is offered in two turbo petrol engine options. While the smaller 1.0-litre TSI motor is offered in all variants - Active, Ambition and Style, the more powerful 1.5-litre TSI motor is only offered in the top-of-the-line Style variant. However, that could soon change. According to a recently leaked Type Approval Document of the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), Skoda might be planning to introduce the 1.5-litre TSI engine in the mid-spec Ambition trim of the Kushaq SUV.

The Ambient variant of the Skoda Kushaq will be offered in both manual and automatic variants
The leaked document says that the Ambition variant of the Skoda Kushaq 1.5 TSI will be offered in both manual and automatic variants, the same as the Style trim. Now, we did reach out to Skoda Auto India to confirm the possibility of this happening, however, at the time of publishing the story, our email remained unanswered. Having said that, if at all this happens, customers will get the option to get the more powerful engine of the SUV at a lower price point.

Even the mid-level variant of the Skoda Kushaq is quite loaded with features
As for the Ambition trim, despite being a mid-level variant it is quite loaded with features. The trim gets LED headlights with DRLs, 16-inch alloy wheels, LED taillights, touchscreen infotainment system wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control with rear AC vents and an informative TFT display as part of the instrument cluster. The SUV also gets dual airbags, ABS with EBD and ESC, rear parking camera, ISOFIX child seat mounts and more. A few things that it doesn't get include - a sunroof, a tyre pressure monitor, side and curtain airbags among others.
