Skoda Kushaq 1.5-Litre TSI Deliveries Begin In India

- The Skoda Kushaq is the brand's first product based on MQB A0 IN platform
- The Kushaq 1.5 TSI packs 147 bhp and 250 Nm with a DSG option
- The Skoda Kushaq 1.5 competes with the Hyundai Creta 1.4 T-GDI
Skoda Auto India has begun deliveries of the new Kushaq with the 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine. The new compact SUV was launched in June this year with the 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre TSI engine options. While the deliveries for the 1.0 TSI version began soon after the launch, the Kushaq 1.5 TSI rolls out of the showrooms only now. The more powerful version will also be available for test drives at Skoda dealerships across the country. The Skoda Kushaq 1.5 TSI range starts from Rs. 15.80 lakh, going up to Rs. 17.60 lakh (ex-showroom)

The Skoda Kushaq 1.5 TSI version uses the 1.5-litre TSI EVO engine that comes with the segment-first Active Cylinder Technology (ACT), which will shut down two cylinders at low speeds in a bid to improve fuel efficiency. The turbocharged petrol engine develops 148 bhp at 5000-6000 rpm and peak torque of 250 Nm of peak torque between 1600-3500 rpm. The motor is paired with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. Skoda claims a fuel efficiency on the Kushaq of 17.95 kmpl on the manual and a 17.71 kmpl on the automatic (ARAI certified).
The Skoda Kushaq 1.5 TSI goes up against the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, and both get the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine. It will also lock horns against the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun that will get the same engine-gearbox combination.
