Mercedes-Benz India has received an order for 55 E-Class sedans from the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. The German carmaker will lease top-of-the-range Mercedes-Benz E 250 CDI sedans to the Ministry. Starting with the upcoming India Africa Forum Summit (IAFS), these Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedans will be employed by the Ministry of External Affairs in the service of visiting foreign dignitaries comprising Head of States, Presidents, Prime Ministers and top diplomats. The largest selling luxury car model in the country, over 30,000 units of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class have been sold in India. The E 250 CDI in question comes powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine whose performance is rated at 201bhp and 500Nm of peak torque. Mated to a 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission, the car can go from 0Km/h to 100Km/h in 7.5 seconds and offers a top-speed of 242Km/h.
