New 2014 BMW X5 Rolled Out From Chennai Plant

After making its Indian debut at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, the third-generation BMW X5 was finally launched on May 29, 2014 in Pune. Fast forward to today, when the company rolled out the locally assembled car from its Indian facility. While rolling out the car from its Chennai based production plant, BMW also announced that the car's delivery will commence by the end of this month.
The company also added that since the average waiting period for the X5 is three months, it might consider ramping up production to meet the growing demand.
Talking about the changes that the new X5 has received, it gets a new front fascia with a broader kidney grille and chrome surrounds, and new headlamps with LED inserts. Moving on to the rear, the car gets two piece tailights. Whereas, the side profile remains almost unchanged.

In order to make the new X5 more spacious and comfortable than its predecessor, the company has increased its width, height and length by 5mm, 14mm and 32mm, respectively. While the overall interior design remains unchanged, the new model gets wooden treatment on the dash, gear lever and door pads.
The X5 derives its power from a 3.0-litre six-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine, which is capable of producing 258bhp and 560Nm of peak torque. Power is transmitted to all four-wheels via a 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox. The car touches 100Km/h from standstill in 6.9 seconds and offers a top-speed of 230Km/h.
