You love road trips, don't you? It could be a weekend getaway or an adventure trip for a week or so. Going away with friends and family is one of the best ways to enjoy a vacation. If you have a car that you can drive, there is nothing like it. it is going to be the best vacation you can ever think of. This is the time you can display your driving skills and the car you own. But you should make it fun and safe for all. The roads in India are not trustworthy. They throw up surprises every bend and turn. The long stretch of smooth highway may suddenly jolt you with a series of potholes or speed breakers at the most unpredictable spots. You may have the shock of your life finding no traffic control or lights in the most crowded area of a town or a city. Even a veteran will find it excruciatingly painful to cruise the car away in the mess. One has to be more than cautious and on one's brakes and clutches all the time because you don't know when you may have to come to a screeching halt or when you've got to speed away. You may find a jungle out there.
One should follow these tips if one is a new driver:

Maintain moderate speed
It is easy to pick up speed on the highways because there are traffic lanes and the roads are wide. Most of the motorists speeding away are more or less aware of lane discipline. Wide roads may tempt you to press on the accelerator pedal and enjoy the thrill of wheezing past other cars. But speed is crucial on the highways as there are no traffic lights or constables to stop you and you are absolutely on your own to go as you like. People often ignore speed limits they should keep themselves in and it is often time the reason behind road mishaps. If you find road signs signaling a speed limit of 80kph, you had better go with it because it has been put up there after research on the flow of traffic and contours of the road on that particular stretch. The sign of speed limit makes sense, so you must keep the pace of your car within that limit. Compliance with it will ultimately go in your favour and you will reach your destination in one piece. There is no room for bravado or driving antics. It's not easy to follow rules here because there are no monitors or enforcers. The motorists feel like speeding to thrill and excitement that may end up in a crash. Don't try to compete with other cars in racing ahead of one another. You should assess the road condition and set your pace accordingly. When you are driving on wet roads or during night driving, you should be especially careful about speed. Braking distance is something you should always keep in mind.
Changing lanes
Changing lanes at high speed on the highways is very crucial because almost all the drivers are in a hurry to overtake one another. One of the worst things that you can do is drive in the wrong lane. It is an invitation to disaster. While changing lanes, know the difference in lane speed limits and switch your pace accordingly.
Safe distance
You should keep a considerable distance between your car and other vehicles around. You should be wary of the vehicle driving ahead slamming on the brakes suddenly. One little slip of attention and you might end up dashing against it.
