New Generation Hyundai Verna Spotted With Heavy Camouflage; To Get ADAS Features

- New Hyundai Verna is expected to be launched in India by early 2023.
- New Hyundai Verna will be the second car in the company’s portfolio to feature ADAS features.
- Honda City e: HEV is the only ADAS capable car in the compact sedan segment.
Hyundai Motor India is readying the launch of the new Hyundai Verna, most likely by early next year. How do we know this? Well, a test mule was recently spotted under heavy camouflage, suggesting its imminent launch in the country. However, what’s important here is the fact that the new generation Hyundai Verna will be the second car in the company’s portfolio to feature Advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) features, after the recently launched Hyundai Tucson. We know this because the test mule spotted here was being tested with radar on the front bumper, suggesting its enhanced safety net. If this does culminate, then the new-generation Hyundai Verna will be the second car in the compact sedan segment to receive ADAS functionality after the Honda City e: HEV.

Expect Hyundai designer's to carve out extra inches of space on the inside for the passengers with improved knee-legroom.

The new-generation Hyundai Verna will feature a completely new design, inspired by the larger Hyundai Elantra. And so, expect the 2023 Hyundai Verna to feature a large grille up front with lower positioned sleek headlamps. Reports also suggest that the new Hyundai Verna will be larger in proportions than the current model to better compete with the Honda City, Skoda Slavia, and the Volkswagen Virtus. Also, expect the Hyundai designer to carve out extra inches of space on the inside for the passengers with improved knee-legroom.
Inside, the new Hyundai Verna is expected to be loaded with the latest gadgets apart from a digital display, a Bose sound system, and a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Additionally, the car is also expected to come with a ventilation feature for the front seats, a wireless phone charger, and an electric sunroof, as seen on the older model. We also expect Hyundai to give a new look to the cabin with a premium theme.

Coming back to the ADAS features on the new Hyundai Verna, expect the car to come equipped with the same features offered on the new Hyundai Tucson, which comes with about 19 safety features. So, you get lane-keeping assist, forward collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic alert and blind spot detection, and adaptive cruise control. We also expect Hyundai to offer 6-airbags as standard fitment on all the trims. More details will be revealed closer to the launch next year.
Under the hood, we expect the new Hyundai Verna to be powered by the same 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines, as well as the 118 bhp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit, along with the 6-speed iMT among other gearbox combinations. Expect the price to be slightly on the premium side since the car will be loaded with safety features. We anticipate that Hyundai will price the car between Rs. 9.99 lakh to Rs. 17.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
