Nissan India Begins Magnite Exports To Nepal, Indonesia And South Africa

- The Nissan Magnite subcompact SUV is made in India for the world
- Nissan says the Magnite is built to the same spec for all markets
- Bookings for the Magnite in Nepal have already crossed over 2000 units
Nissan India announced the commencement of exports of the Magnite subcompact SUV to Nepal, South Africa and Indonesian markets. The all-new Nissan Magnite is completely made-in-India for the world. Since the offering went on sale in December 2020, the automaker has produced 15,010 units of the Magnite at the Oragadam plant in Tamil Nadu until the end of May 2021. This figure comprises 13,790 units sold in India, while 1220 units exported from the country. Do note the SUV was launched in South Africa in April this year. The Magnite bookings crossed the 50,000 units mark in April in India and the model continues to garner strong demand.

Speaking on the exports of the Magnite, Sinan Ozkok, President, Nissan Motor India said, "Following a successful global launch, the all-new Nissan Magnite has been very well received by the Indian consumers. Having already made a mark in the Indian market with its impeccable design and the latest technology, the all-new Nissan Magnite is driving excitement amongst customer on a global scale. Built on the philosophy of "Make in India, make for the world, the all-new Nissan Magnite will explore more export markets after the overwhelming customer response it has received in the Nepal market. We are confident that the game changer SUV will strengthen the exports as part of Nissan NEXT transformation plan for our sustainable growth."

The Nissan Magnite is off to a good start in Nepal and received over 760 bookings within the first 30 days of its launch in February 2021. To give you perspective, the Nepalese car market sells about 1580 cars every month. In order to meet the growing demand, the automaker announced a third shift at the production facility earlier this year, along with over 1000 new hires to aid the same.

Nissan says the Magnite is made to the same spec for the world at the India plant and the car also scored a 4-Star rating in the ASEAN NCAP crash tests. The SUV is powered by the 1.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol and the 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine options, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic. Prices for the Nissan Magnite begin from Rs. 5.59 lakh (ex-showroom).
