Over 28,500 Honda Motorcycles Recalled In USA Over Faulty Rear Reflector Fitment

- Honda recalls 28,528 motorcycles in USA
- The affected motorcycles could have a faulty rear reflector
- The defective part will be replaced free of cost by Honda
American Honda Motor Co. has issued a recall for 28,528 motorcycles in USA over a faulty rear reflector fitment. The recall notice by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says that, a dim rear reflector may reduce the visibility of the motorcycle to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash or injury. The potentially affected motorcycles were manufactured in 2020-21 and the units that were recalled belonged to 13 model ranges. After a compliance test by Korean motor vehicle authorities on a sampling of rear reflectors in December 2020, Honda Korea was informed that the rear reflectors of a Korean market vehicle were non-compliant. Honda investigated the affected population and whether the affected models were out of compliance under other countries' regulations between January and March 2021.

The recall population was determined based on manufacturing records. The manufacturing range reflects all possible vehicles that could potentially experience the problem. All units of the potentially affected models were manufactured between January 2020 and February 2021. Honda will contact all registered owners of affected vehicles via mail and ask them to take their vehicle to an authorised Honda Powersports dealer. The dealer will replace the rear reflector for free. Owners who have paid to have these repairs completed at their own expense will be eligible for reimbursement, in accord with the recall reimbursement plan on file with NHTSA.
