Honda India Foundation Sets Up COVID-19 Isolation Centres In North India

The second wave of COVID-19 in India is slowly ebbing away, thankfully. Many automotive manufacturers have come up and helped the country fight against COVID-19 and now Honda India Foundation, the CSR wing of all Honda Group companies in Rajasthan and Haryana. The idea is to provide healthcare infrastructure and facilities for COVID-19 patients. The facility at Naurangur, Haryana consists of 100 beds while the facility at Tapukara, Rajasthan has 50 beds. Operations at these facilities have already begun. The two facilities, set-up in association with Haryana and Rajasthan state governments, have round the clock supervision by trained doctors and nurses along with other medical arrangements.

Honda India Foundation had announced a sum of Rs. 6.5 crore for COVID-19 relief efforts with an aim to contribute towards COVID-19 support and relief measures in the five states of Haryana, Rajasthan, Karnataka, U.P and Gujarat. Honda is also setting up oxygen production plants in Manesar (Haryana), Alwar (Rajasthan), Kolar (Karnataka) and Noida (UP). Simultaneously, the foundation is reaching out to front-line warriors by distributing PPE, masks, sanitisers and also providing government hospitals in rural areas with medical equipment like oxygen concentrators, pulse oximeters etc.

Other leading two-wheeler manufacturers of India, Hero MotoCorp and TVS Motor Company had also announced COVID-19 relief measures earlier last month. Hero has offered PPE kits, and two-wheelers for health authorities, along with other measures. TVS Motor Company has pledged Rs. 40 crore along with Sundaram Clayton and its group companies to provide oxygen concentrators, PPE kits, medicines and medical equipment across the country.
