Piaggio Launches The Aprilia SR 150 In Nepal At NPR 2,39,000

- Made-in-India Aprilia SR 150 is now exported to Nepal
- The Aprilia SR 150 is manufactured at Piaggio's Baramati plant, near Pune
- Aprilia is also working on a new SR scooter that will be come this year
After receiving a positive response for the Aprilia SR 150 in India, Piaggio has now announced the launch of the popular moto-scooter in our neighbouring country, Nepal. Launched at an introductory price of NPR 2,39,000, which is roughly Rs. 1.49 lakh, now the company has extended its current product portfolio from the iconic Vespa scooters to Aprilia in Nepal as well.
Talking about the launch Stefano Pelle, Managing Director, CEO - Piaggio Vehicles Private Limited (PVPL) said, "Aprilia SR 150 has created a new category in the two-wheeler segment in India and now the bike is set to make its debut in Nepal. It is indeed a matter of pride for the Piaggio Group; our innovative offering to the Indian market has received an overwhelming response from patrons in India and has been well received in the Indian market. Five 'Scooter of the Year' awards is a testimony and inspiration for introducing more innovative products in future".

The company hasn't spoken about whether the Aprilia SR 150 will be exported to other international markets or not. That said, earlier when we spoke to Pelle, he did mention that the company will soon launch another SR scooter, which will be launched in India in early 2017. This could be a more powerful version and will come with a bigger price tag.
Coming to the bike itself, We have already told you how the Aprilia SR 150 rides and a lot more. The scooter shares its powertrain with the Vespa 150 but Piaggio has worked upon the engine so there a rush of torque in the mid-range which accelerates the Aprilia quicker than any other scooter. The 154.4cc motor churns out a maximum of 11.4bhp and develops a peak torque of 11.5Nm and achieving triple digit speed on this bike is truly easy. Transmission duties are taken care of by CVT unit. The scooter gets 14-inch black alloy wheels with 220mm disc up front with a 2-piston Bybre caliper, along with a 140mm drum for the rear.
