Aprilia SR 125 To Be Launched Soon; Spied In Dealerships

- The Aprilia SR 125 might be launched in India within the month
- It might use the same engine as the Piaggio Vespa 125
- The design and styling is expected to be similar to the SR 150
We have unofficial confirmation from few Aprilia dealerships that the company might be launching the SR125 within the month. The idea is to tap into the 125 cc scooter market, which has more takers in India, and use the SR 150's aggressive and appealing design to try and generate more sales volume. Plus it is always better to have models in multiple scooter segments. Some Piaggio dealerships have already reported to have received the SR125. As the spyshots indicate, the SR 125 scooter will be available in two colours, which are silver and blue. The overall design and styling is expected to remain the same as the Aprilia SR 150, with just the engine being swapped. In fact, Carandbike did reach out to Aprilia as well and the company has promised to get back in a couple of days.

In all probability, the Aprilia SR 125 scooter might use the same engine as the Piaggio Vespa 125 which makes 10 bhp at 7,500 rpm and 10.6 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. We expect the cycle parts of the Aprilia SR 125 to remain the same as the SR 150 such as the 14-inch wheels, 220 mm disc brake and so on and so forth.
While the Aprilia SR 150 is priced at Rs. 69,600 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the SR 125 is a tad more affordable at Rs. 65,000 or so (unofficial prices from the dealers that Carandbike had called). Aprilia will also launch the SR 150 in a new colour scheme of matte green and we expect the prices to remain the same as the regular SR 150.
