Royal Enfield Himalayan Scram 411: All You Need To Know

- Scram 411 gets 19-inch front wheel; 3.5 kg less weight than Himalayan
- Royal Enfield Scram 411 offers more accessibility & affordability
- Prices range from Rs. 2.03 - 2.08 lakh (Ex-showroom)
The Royal Enfield Himalayan Scram 411 is the latest addition to the Himalayan family. It's a slightly more accessible and compact version of the Himalayan. As the name suggests, the Scram 411 is a sort of scrambler-styled model. But unlike the classic scramblers of the 1960s and '70s, which were essentially stripped-down road bikes, the Scram 411 takes the Himalayan adventure platform and converts it into a more accessible scrambler-styled model. Here's a look at what is new about the Royal Enfield Scram 411 and what it offers, and how different it is from the Himalayan.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan Scram 411 is based on the same engine and chassis as the Himalayan, but gets a smaller 19-inch front wheel, 20 mm less suspension travel, and 5 mm lower seat height.
Design
The Scram 411 is essentially a Royal Enfield Himalayan in a more compact and accessible form. Visually, the most noticeable changes are that the Scram 411 loses the Himalayan's windscreen and the headlight is mounted slightly lower, giving the Scram better face value. The tank mounted luggage mounts have also been done away with, and instead there are tank shrouds. The side panels are also different, while the seat is now a single-piece unit with 5 mm lower seat height. The rear grab rail is also shorter, and the single-pod offset instrument console is different as well.

Out on the highway, the Scram can cruise comfortably at triple digit speeds, but 85-95 kmph is the sweet spot, with some extra grunt available for overtakes.
Engine
The 411 cc, single-cylinder, single overhead cam, air-cooled engine is the same as the Himalayan's, and puts out 24.3 bhp at 6,500 rpm and 32 Nm of peak torque at between 4,000 and 4,500 rpm. The fuelling has been changed on the Scram, to make the throttle response feel crisper and more responsive. The same map will also be introduced in newer Himalayans.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan Scram 411 is based on the same engine and chassis as the Himalayan, but gets a smaller 19-inch front wheel, 20 mm less suspension travel, and 5 mm lower seat height.
Dimensions
The Scram 411 has a dry weight of 183.5 kg, which is 6.5 kg less than the Himalayan's 190 kg. But with the centre stand, which is not a standard accessory on the Scram 411, the weight difference is only 5 kg than the Himalayan's kerb weight of 199 kg. Overall, the wheelbase of the Scram is shorter by 10 mm than the Himalayan's.

Despite 20 mm less ground clearance, and 20 mm less front suspension travel than the Himalayan, the Scram 411 still comes across as quite a capable all-rounder, which can be used for the daily commute, for the long ride, and also as an entertaining off-ro
Chassis & Suspension
The Scram gets the same half-duplex frame as the Himalayan, but it gets a smaller 19-inch wheel compared to the Himalayan's 21-inch front wheel. Ground clearance has gone down by 20 mm to 200 mm. The front suspension travel is also 20 mm less on the Scram with 190 mm travel. The changes in the front suspension and smaller front wheel has resulted in a sharper rake on the Scram 411.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan Scram 411 is priced from Rs. 2.03 - 2.08 lakh (Ex-showroom).
Prices & Variants
Prices begin at Rs.2.03 lakh (Ex-showroom) for the base variant, in three colours (Graphite Blue, Graphite Red and Graphite Yellow), with the mid-spec variant costing Rs. 2.05 lakh (Ex-showroom), available in two colours, Blazing Black, and Skyline Blue. The top-spec White Flame and Silver Spirit colour options are priced at Rs. 2.08 lakh (Ex-showroom).
