Skoda Auto India To Double Sales By 2022

- The Kushaq is Skoda's first SUV based on the MQB A0 IN platform
- The Kushaq will drive sales for Skoda in 2021
- Skoda plans to add sedan to the portfolio in FY2022
Skoda Auto India launched it's first made-in-India, for India product - the Kushaq in India and with prices for the SUV starting at Rs. 10.50 lakh, the compact SUV has certainly locked horns with the big dogs in this segment. Having said that Skoda is very bullish with the new product and plans to achieve an overall sales of 30,000 units in this fiscal year and that's a big step up for the company. Having already launched the all-new Octavia sedan earlier the month, the company will be hope that the Kushaq delivers string sales in the coming months.

Speaking to Siddharth Vinayak Patankar, Editor-In-Chief, carandbike, on the Freewheeling with SVP segment, Zac Hollis, Brand Directr, Sales and Marketing, Skoda Auto India said, "We are tracking the number of bookings, I can't tell you the number there. We plan to sell 30,000 this year, which is almost 3 times the cars we sold last year and then we more than double that in 2022."

The Kushaq is expected to power sales for Skoda in India
To achieve this massive growth, Skoda also plans to launch a sedan as well which will be previewed by the end of this year and deliveries will start early next year. The sedan will be positioned above the Rapid and will be based on the MQB A0-IN platform.
