Suzuki Motorcycle India Aims 15% Market Share in Scooter Segment

Suzuki Motorcycle India Limited (SMIL) aims to increase its market share in the scooter segment from 12 to 15 per cent with the introduction of the new LET's scooter.
"Currently in Karnataka we have 16 per cent market share, nationally we have 12 per cent. Karnataka is more than our national average and it is a very important market for us," SIMA Executive Vice President Atul Gupta told reporters here.
Introducing the 110 cc scooter LET's in Bangalore, he said, ".... we are looking at one lakh unit (sales) for this particular product, so for Karnataka we are looking at 22 per cent market share, but in terms of all India we wish to take it to 15 per cent."
Stating that a series of regional launches have been planned for the scooter, he said, "We started with Tamil Nadu, followed by Kerala and Karnataka, now we will go to the western part of the country... then go to the east in middle of June and then we will go north."
On sales, Gupta said, "We are looking at one lakh units of LET's during the 2014-15 fiscal year."
