Track-Only 2022 KTM RC 8C Sold Out In Less Than 5 Minutes After Order Books Opened

- Bookings for the KTM RC 8C were open online with 100 units to be sold
- The 2022 KTM RC 8C in a span of just 4 minutes and 32 seconds
- 25 owners will get track training from riders Mika Kallio & Dani Pedrosa
KTM pulled quite the surprise unveiling its track-only 2022 KTM RC 8C earlier this month. The offering marks KTM's return to the middleweight motorcycle segment and it was certainly a highly-awaited model right from the moment the curtains were raised. Now, if you were hoping to get your hands on these limited-edition models, we are sorry to disappoint but it's been sold out. While it's common to see such low-volume, high-performance sell out in no time, it's interesting to note that KTM managed to retail all 100 units of the RC 8C in a span of just 4 minutes and 32 seconds. Turns out the bike was setting the timesheets on fire even before hitting the track.

The KTM RC 8C gets the same 889 cc parallel-twin engine as the KTM 890 Duke R
The bookings were made online for the KTM RC 8C, so you had to be extremely quick in going through the payment gateway in time. The motorcycle is built on the same platform as the 890 Duke R but gets MotoGP style carbon Kevlar-reinforced GRP bodywork with aerodynamic winglets. The race-spec 25CrMO4 steel frame is built by hand and the bodywork gets a quick-release mechanism.

Power comes from the 889 cc LC8 parallel-twin engine from the 890 Duke R that makes about 126 bhp and 101 Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox. With a weight of just 140 kg, the KTM RC 8C gets an incredible power-to-weight ratio of nearly 1:1. Owners won't have to worry too much about this middleweight motorcycle keeping up with the litre-class offerings on the track. Moreover, out of the 100 owners of the KTM RC 8C, about 25 lucky ones will get a track and day and tuition from veteran MotoGP riders Mika Kallio and Dani Pedrosa in Jerez this October.
