VinFast Delivers First 100 VF 8 Electric SUVs In Vietnam, Exports To Begin By December 2022

- First 100 VF8 electric SUVs were delivered in its home market of Vietnam.
- The company will also export 5,000 VF 8s to US, Canada, and Europe by December 2022.
- VinFast’s 900-acre property in Hai Phong can produce up to 2.5 lakh vehicles per year.
Remember VinFast? Vietnam’s first and only homegrown carmaker forayed into the electric vehicle space a few years ago, displaying EV concept models to rival Tesla on the global stage. The company has now commenced its journey in the automobile industry as the first 100 VF8 electric SUVs were delivered in its home market of Vietnam. The VinGroup-backed carmaker also announced its intent to export 5,000 VF 8s to the US, Canada, and Europe as early as December 2022. Manufactured at VinFast’s 900-acre property in Hai Phong, the factory can produce up to 2.5 lakh vehicles per year.

Madam Le Thi Thu Thuy – Vice Chairwoman, VinGroup & Global CEO, VinFast said, “Today’s event marks a turning point for Vietnam’s auto industry. At this historic moment, we are extremely happy to deliver the first batch of VF 8 all-electric vehicles to our pioneering customers in Vietnam. And very soon, the enthusiasm will be realized by more than 65,000 pioneering customers worldwide.”
The VinFast VF 8 has two versions – Eco and Plus. The VinFast VF 8 Eco is equipped with a 260-kW electric motor producing a maximum torque of 500 Nm and a 418 km range on a single charge, as per the WLTP cycle. The VinFast VF 8 Plus version on the other hand is equipped with a 300-kW electric motor that develops a maximum torque of 620 Nm and is good enough to travel 400 km on a single charge of electricity. The 5-seater electric SUV is also equipped with ADAS, a series of advanced automated driving features that include Highway Assist, Automated Lane Changing Assist, Smart Parking Assist, Smart Summon Mode, and Remote Parking Assist.

In addition, the VF 8 is equipped with the “Smart Services” package, along with features for controlling and interacting with the vehicle through voice, and remote vehicle control which can be accessed via the VinFast app. The package also includes other user experiences, such as online shopping, and video games that synchronize with your phone.
