Volkswagen Inaugurates new Workshop in Kollam
Volkswagen inaugurated its new, state-of-the-art workshop in Kollam, Kerala further strengthening its after-sales presence in the city. Set up by EVM Passenger Cars India Pvt. Ltd., Volkswagen Kollam's new 8-bay workshop is situated at Industrial Estate Road, Umayanalloor.

The facility is fully equipped to handle vehicle servicing and repairs, as well as paint and bodywork repair. The 7500 sq. ft. will see a team of 26 well-trained members including expert technicians and support staff.

This is an important time for Volkswagen as it gears up to bring new cars to the Indian market. As we've told you, the company plans to launch 4 cars in the next 24 months and that includes an SUV - Tiguan, the Beetle, the Passat and the all-new compact sedan.

The plan is a clear one - and while it will not attack all ends of the market, it will certainly give VW more ammunition than it currently holds. The company has had a 7 model portfolio, but that was populated by cars like the Phaeton, Touareg and yes the Beetle - which have great appeal, but limited takers.

With the compact sedan, the company will penetrate into a market that already sees huge competition and so it will be interesting to see how things turn out.
