Volkswagen Tiguan Caught Testing In India Sans Camouflage Ahead Of Launch

- Volkswagen Tiguan's production has already commenced
- Bookings for the Volkswagen Tiguan will begin in India in April 2017
- VW Tiguan will be powered by a 2.0 litre TDI engine
We told you last year that Volkswagen will be bringing the new-generation model of its popular mid-size SUV - the Volkswagen Tiguan to India in 2017. The SUV was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo and we even got to drive it on its home ground in Germany. It's been long since the new-gen Tiguan arrived in India and we recently spotted a couple of production models in the country. Volkswagen India has already commenced the production of the SUV at its plant in Aurangabad, Maharashtra and the company will start accepting bookings for the new Tiguan from April. Launch although will take place in May 2017.

Volkswagen Tiguan has been spotted without camouflage
Both the Volkswagen Tiguan SUVs that we spotted recently were the 2.0 litre TDI versions, powered by a 1968cc turbocharged motor. The engine makes about 147 bhp and comes mated to the company's tried and tested 7-speed DSG automatic unit. Globally the 2.0 TDI Volkswagen Tiguan also gets a 6-speed manual gearbox as an option, but whether the company will offer that with the India-spec model or not is yet to be known.

Volkswagen Tiguan has a wide stance with many prominent design elements
Now we have already seen the India-spec Volkswagen Tiguan so we know that these are the production models. The new-gen Volkswagen Tiguan is built on the company's popular MQB platform and comes with some prominent character lines that accentuate its SUV silhouette. The Tiguan has a wide stance so up front, you see several stretched out elements likes the wide grille flanked by horizontal LED headlamps with U-shaped LED daytime running lights. The large sloping bonnet features some prominent character lines while he sculpted front bumper houses the large central airdam and horizontal LED foglamps.

Volkswagen Tiguan is expected to be priced between Rs. 25 lakh to Rs. 30 lakh
From these rear images, we get better look at the exterior design and styling of the Volkswagen Tiguan. There is bold shoulder line that runs along the length of the SUV, chrome surrounds for the window, flared wheel arches with plastic cladding, roof rails and multi-spoke alloy wheels. The Tiguan also comes with a stylish set of LED taillamps, roof mounted spoiler, rear windshield, and a beefy rear bumper with plastic cladding and skid plate.
The Volkswagen Tiguan's price to range between Rs. 25 lakh to Rs. 30 lakh, thanks to the car being produced in India with significant localisation of parts.
