Volkswagen Vento Sport Edition To Be Launched Soon

- The Volkswagen Vento Sport will be offered on the range-topping trim

Volkswagen India will soon introduce the Vento Sport Edition in the country. The automaker is yet to reveal prices of the new Vento Sport edition, but has listed the model on its website. The new Volkswagen Vento Sport brings sporty visual upgrades to the C-segment sedan for 2018, while retaining the mechanicals from the current version on sale. The Sport edition adds some freshness to the Vento sedan, with the next generation still some time away from making it to India.

Upgrades on the Volkswagen Vento Sport Edition include black finished grille, gloss black roof wrap, carbon-fibre finish on the ORVMs, chrome 'Sport' badging on the front fenders, black decals on the sides and a black finished rear lip spoiler. The sedan also gets dark grey 16-inch Portage alloy wheels complimenting the package. Upgrades to the cabin aren't known yet, but the Sport edition is likely to be offered on the range-topping Highline Plus variant.

The top-of-the-line trim packs in all the goodies including faux leather upholstered seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gearshift knob, electrically foldable ORVMs, touchscreen infotainment system with reverse camera and MirrorLink connectivity. The Vento also comes with dual airbags and ABS as standard on all trims, along with ESP. The range-topping variant also gets LED headlamps with LED DRLs.

In terms of powertrain, the Volkswagen Vento Sport will continue to use the same 1.2-litre TSI petrol engine with 103 bhp paired to the 7-speed DSG transmission, while a 1.6-litre MPI petrol engine tuned for 103 bhp is also available paired to a 5-speed gearbox. Diesel power comes from the 1.5-litre TDI unit with 108 bhp and can be had with a 5-speed manual or a DSG unit.
Presently, the Volkswagen Vento Highline Plus is priced at Rs. 12.62 lakh for the petrol and Rs. 13.87 (ex-showroom) for the diesel model. Expect the the Vento Sport to be priced at a slight premium.
