What Are The Subsidies On Electric Vehicles In India Like Scooters And Cars?

Traditional combustion engines are becoming outdated with growing demand for electric vehicles. Petrol and diesel are the reasons for high pollution; hence the government is taking measures and planning to replace all those vehicles with fully electric vehicles. They have completely revolutionized the transportation system.

The lower running and maintenance costs, along with zero tailpipe emissions are the reasons why the government is opting for these vehicles. Thankfully, many Indian states have recognized the importance of these electric vehicles and are providing attractive subsidies in turn.

Let's have a quick look at the subsidies here
On electric scooters and bikes, the government has provided a direct incentive of 150000 per kWh of battery capacity. Whereas in case of the cars there is a direct incentive of 10000 per kWh of the battery capacity.
The plan of the ministry
The Union Ministry offers a GST rate of 5% on all EVs and tax savings for up to 1.5 lakhs. These EV subsidies are similar to the state incentives and are valid throughout India.
Subsidies on bikes and scooters
According to most industry sources, demand for two-wheelers has always outstripped demand for four-wheelers. That is why Governments are more eager to offer incentives on EVs in the two-wheeler space first.
Here's taking a look at the same.
Delhi
For Delhi the battery capacity cost is 5000/- and max Subsidy is 30,000/-. Among other benefits there is no need to pay road tax and registration fees.
Maharashtra
For Maharashtra the battery capacity cost is 5000/- and max Subsidy is 10,000/- for the 1st buyers. Similar to Delhi there will be no road tax and registration fees also for the early bird incentive is up to 15000/-

Conclusion:
There are other states where there is still no dedicated management for electric vehicles. The Indian government is trying to fulfill the needs and meet the demand of the subsidies for these vehicles. With time, this need will also be fulfilled. Electric vehicles are the new future in India. With these vehicles, not only will environmental sustainability be ensured, but the economy will also get a boost along with overall employment. More EV-oriented policies are required.
