Woman in China Paid for Her BMW 7-Series in Small Change
Highlights
The sum total of the notes was about RMB 94,217 (Rs. 961,190). They weighed around 100Kg. Reports claim Li paid the remaining amount via a credit card.
About how the entire purchase occurred at the dealership - it took 20 of its employees and 6 hours to count the payment.
Jia Tinghai, the dealership's marketing director, spoke to Zhengzhou Evening Post about this peculiar purchase, and summarised her reaction in mere 3 words: "Oh my God".
Local media claims that the 'often busy' Ms Li said she had decided to save the banknotes till she was able to spend them all at once when buying a car.
Interestingly, Ms Li's purchase isn't the first bizarre story to come out of China. Reportedly earlier this year, a man from Hebei used only coins to buy a car that cost more than 50,000 yuan.
