Zypp Electric Announces Partnership With Battery Smart

Battery Smart, one of India's largest and fastest-growing battery-swapping network for electric vehicles, has announced a partnership with Zypp Electric, India's leading shared electric mobility start-up. Through this partnership, as many as 2,000 Zypp Electric two-wheelers will be integrated into Battery Smart's network giving riders access to more than 175 swap stations across the Delhi-NCR region. According to a joint announcement by the two companies, a pilot of 200 electric vehicles is already underway. Battery Smart's unique battery-as-a-service model allows Zypp Electric to lower its capital expenditure (CAPEX) while scaling operations.

Zypp Electric riders can save valuable time using Battery Smart's swapping stations, enabling them to be on the road for longer durations.

At the same time, Zypp Electric's riders can save valuable time and leverage a well-established network to swap batteries at many locations, enabling them to be on the road for longer durations, the statement added.

"Our partnership with Zypp Electric adds a large base of commercial two-wheelers and helps us improve the utilisation of our growing network. As the largest network for battery swapping in the country, we help mitigate the fear of range anxiety typically associated with EVs, especially for the logistics segment," said Pulkit Khurana, Co-Founder of Battery Smart.

Speaking on occasion, Akash Gupta, Co-Founder & CEO of Zypp Electric, said, "Having access to the largest network of battery swapping in the country helps our drivers be on the road for longer durations. The partnership with Battery Smart also allows us to remain asset-light while expanding our fleet numbers further, without incurring a large CAPEX associated with the batteries and stations. Battery Smart was operationalised in June 2020, and has a unique partner-led model that allows it to scale rapidly. With more than 175 battery-swapping stations already live across Delhi, Gurugram and Noida, the company has completed 7 lakh swaps and currently services more than 2,500 electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers daily. Going forward, Battery Smart aims to provide EV drivers access to two-minute swaps within a 1 kilometre radius with zero wait time.

Zypp Electric was founded in 2017 and provides electric scooters on subscription plans to its clients and to delivery executives. Currently, the company works with all leading business-to-business grocery and other hyperlocal delivery companies. Zypp Electric was co-founded by Akash Gupta and Rashi Agarwal in 2017 and has over 2,000 electric vehicles in its platform.
