Official - 2014 Nissan Sunny Facelift Launch on July 3

Nissan has confirmed that it will launch the tweaked version of its mid-sized sedan, Sunny, in India on 3rd July. Showcased earlier this year at the 12th edition of the Delhi Motor Show, the sedan's successor donned a handful of cosmetic updates, thus lending the car a modish look. The 2014 Sunny line-up will comprise of eight variants, including both, petrol and diesel trims.
In terms of exterior changes, the Sunny facelift sports changes like a chrome garnished trapezoid grille, large boomerang-shaped headlights, and redesigned bumpers. Whereas, the rear gets a small bootlid spoiler with a stoplight.
Vital safety features like Anti-Lock-Braking-System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) System and driver airbag are likely to be offered as standard provisions on the entry-level trim. In addition to the aforementioned features, Sunny's top-end trim will also get brake assist, engine immobiliser, and fron passenger side airbag.

Moving on to the engine range, the line-up will include a 1.5-litre petrol motor and a 1.5-litre dCi diesel mill. The petrol motor that delivers 98bhp will be offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox, and probably a CVT too. On the other hand, the 1.5-litre dCi diesel will come mated to just a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Interestingly, the addition of new safety features and other tweaks leads us to believe that the Sunny just might get a tad bit costly. Though the sedan has been present in India for almost three years now, it succumbed to the fierce competition in the C segment despite a spectacular debut. For now, the segment is ruled by Honda's new City, which is available in both, diesel and petrol variants. Other than the City, the mid-sized sedan segment also fields cars like the Hyundai Verna, the aggressively priced new Ford Fiesta's diesel avatar, and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Ciaz sedan.
